ADVANTAGES OF MICROWAVE DETECTION
TOGETHER WITH PRESENCE-TRACKING CAPABILITIES

DETECTION NOT AFFECTED BY WEATHER

IMMUNE TO SUNRISE/SUNSET OR POST-RAIN GLARE

NOT SUSCEPTIBLE TO IN-ROAD BREAKAGE

ADVANCED AND STOP BAR DETECTION IN A SINGLE UNIT

MULTIPLE LANES COVERED BY A SINGLE UNIT

EASILY INSTALLS TO CORNER POLE

SUCCESSFULLY DETECTS BICYCLES/MOTORCYCLES

SIGNIFICANT COST SAVINGS
(when compared to camera mounting requirements or multiple loops)

NO PRIVACY CONCERNS

ALLOWS USERS TO:
Visually track vehicles as they approach the intersection

Easily set up detection zones to provide programmable inputs to a control cabinet

Verify that the system is functioning correctly and troubleshoot
The essentials of good road lighting never change, but in a world where energy efficiency and reliability are becoming increasingly important, the Dialight - StreetSENSE introduces a new direction in roadway lighting.

IntelliDriveSM technology is a initiative whose goal is to enable safe, interoperable networked wireless communications among vehicles, the infrastructure (“road”), and personal communications devices.
IntelliDriveSM technology research powers the capabilities of wireless technology to make personal transportation safer and smarter.

USDOT research is supporting testing and development of the IntelliDriveSM technologies, to establish the benefits and costs.
When successful, IntelliDriveSM technology will improve safety and mobility of Americans. At the same time it will help to reduce the amount of time we spend in traffic there by reducing the environmental impact of land transportation.

The Problem in Transportation

IntelliDriveSM technology attacks some of the larger challenges in land transportation industry in the areas of safety and environment.

•    Safety: In 2008, there were 5.8 million crashes, resulting in 37,000 fatalities and 2.3 million injuries. Auto accidents are the leading cause of deaths for ages 3 through 34.
The goal of IntelliDriveSM technology is to provide the tools to make improvements and reduce the number of lives lost each year through crash prevention.

•    Mobility: For every traveler on U.S. highways, nearly one full work week a year is lost stuck in traffic, that is 4.2 billion hours a year total.
The overall cost reached more than $750 (based on wasted fuel and lost productivity) for every U.S. traveler. IntelliDriveSM mobility applications are intended to enable drivers to have choices that can reduce travel time.

•    Environment: IntelliDriveSM technology will help reduce the amount of wasted gas which in 2007 was in excess of, according to the Texas Transportation Institute, a whopping 2.8 billion gallons in 2007. That comes out to three weeks' worth of gas for every traveler on U.S. highways.

IntelliDriveSM technology will provide connectivity:

•    Between vehicles to prevent crashes.
•    AND vehicles and the “road” to allow safety and mobility benefits.
•    AND vehicles, “road”, and vehicle wireless devices to provide nonstop real-time connectivity to all users.

IntelliDriveSM technology will allow vehicles to have complete 360-degree responsiveness to inform the driver of hazards and situations they just can’t see. IntelliDriveSM technologies can reduce crashes through advance warnings. For example, drivers can be advised of a school zone, sharp curve, or an icy patch of road ahead of them.
Drivers can also be warned in more dangerous situations, such as if the vehicle out of sight suddenly stops. Vehicles can also warn drivers of IntelliDriveSM equipped bicycles around them, increasing the safety for those on the side of the road.

Giving drivers real-time information concerning traffic jams and other travel problems allows drivers to make informed decisions that can reduce the time of their trip.
Informed drivers can decide to avoid congestion by taking a different route which will make their trip more fuel-efficient.

The ability for vehicles to “talk to” the “road” can supply information to the driver so that they are able to drive through a traffic signal network at the correct speed to reduce having to stop for signals.

IntelliDriveSM technology is designed give traffic managers better real time information and allow them to manage traffic systems in the most effective manner.
IntelliDriveSM technology covers a broad spectrum of technology, ranging from applications that currently available to a multipart active safety systems that will change the driving experience but will not be available for years.
